What do people think about the proposed 450 homes in Featherstone
-
Yes we should have them, but only when we improve the infrastructure to take the increased population... and not before.
-
Fair comment
-
Like I said before, it's new rented housing we need, not bloody 200k houses that no fev folk can afford >:(
-
Trouble is ,the only infrastructure we will get is traffic lights and sewage pipes.

Forget the sewage pipes, we'll just get the lights and 600 more cars to go with them to choke our kids and give them Asthma.

Oh, I almost forgot. In a society where global warming is a massive issue and travelling distances in cars is adding to the global warming effect, shouldn't we be discouraging people from coming to live in Featherstone to live in these new housing estates and commuting hundreds of miles a week to work. Surely the answer is local people walking to work locally and not adding to global warming?

Very good point Gladiator...but can't see it happening mate.

As I understand it the idea is for people to move up the property ladder to these £200k houses leaving wdh and social houses for the less well off to rent or buy. not sure if it would work but i think that is the theory. First thing Fev needs before any houses is a bypass
-
I agree with that

We aint getting no bypass ,a traffic survey says our road will cope lol

It will be interesting what the Town Council have to say about the proposal.

The Town Council as a body will not have a view. Individual Councillors will have. I am sure will express their views when the proposal becomes a
reality, at present it is at the consultation stage.

Here is an interesting link to the Guardian newspaper.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2012/may/29/3m-young-adults-live-parents
Three million young adults in the UK living with their parents because they cannot afford housing.
Featherstone's answer is not to build any homes that they CAN afford but to build more homes they CANNOT afford.
Tremendous.

Outline planning has been applied for Pontefract Road (land off) the application is to build 158 houses and clear the allotments and put a access road onto Pontefract road at the Jubilee steps. eventually the total amount of houses is 297and NOT 450. Any support or opposition needs to be lodged with WMDC Planning by Nov 2nd.
If anyone wants to discuss this I suggest you contact your District Councillors Graham Isherwood, Dick Taylor or June Cliffe.
